I am looking at a buying a 1988 Stinger, but it has OMC 460 w/ King Cobra. If I am not mistaken the 1988 King Cobra had clutch dogs and I am nervouse about them. My question is will the later model 91 and up i.e. cone clutch model bolt up as a direct replacement? Any help would be great.

Thank You.

First of all, OMC didn't make stringer drives in 88. and NEVER did they use the 460 on a stringer drive.
Might want to post some pictures if you buy it, but with all the parts for a 460 Ford (like manifolds and couplers) that are NLA (No longer available) your best bet is to RUN LIKE THE WIND in the opposite direction from that boat.

I think Don might have been sampling something funny today so just ignore his first line :D....Don a 1988 Stinger is not quite the same a Stringer, however the rest of his advise is spot on as usual, take from someone who has 2 1989 460's!:(
