King Cobra vs Cobra............... Identify?

Can you tell the diff between a King and a regular Cobra? What is the physical difference. ?>Will a king Cobra Lower mount to a regular Cobra Upper? I Know the King Cobra is behind the Big blocks but how can you tell if it is no attached to a boat.?

Depends on the year, for the earlier Kings (88-89) they looked like the regular Cobras but were bigger and took more gear oil (64 vs 108 oz), I think the ones from 1990 on were totally different, much larger with Volvo style cone clutch. I saw a 1990 Four Winns Liberator and it had the King on it, it looked HUGE compared to my little 88 4.3. I don't know if uppers and lowers will interchange between the early King and non king. In my OMC shop manual, what looks different is that the lower unit looks larger for the ones used on the big block engines.
