Anyone know anything about Kingfisher Bass Boats? A friend of mine is going to give me one and I wonder if it's Worth rebuilding, Is the Company still in bussiness, how sturdy were they (were they built good) and what size motor sugested for a 15'to16'. Were they a heavy boat and how deep the draft?

If mfg name was 'KINGFISHER MASTER MOLDERS' the last production year was 1993 according to www.nadaguide.com

You may even find useful info on specific models on that site.

I looked at the nada, but i was wondering if they are a well built boat and how stable they are, this one is going to need a floor and transom but otherwise good shape, wondering if it's worth saving or if the boat are in general junk to begin with. thanks

Guess I better pass on the Kingfisher, sounds like nobody has ever owned one or they are real unpopular.

I have a KingFisher 16' with Johnson 90HP, Its a really nice boat and runs about 60Mph. I like the design of the upper bow. When it breaks water it pushes it away from the boat..

I am looking for a operators manual, Even a copy would be great.. Would like to know about all the switched on the Bow and Drivers panel..

Thanks

Re: Kingfisher Bass Boat(Info needed) Help

My dad gave me his 1992 19.5 with a 200 GT johnson, I have used it alot and here's the break down,

Pro: Rides the big waves much better than the newer boats (i've fished big wave tourney's like 4-5 foot, and beat the compition to the calm water with big leads) and no real custom parts so replacing stuff with generic brands make it more affordable.

Con: Wood composite (which will shorten it's life), heavy (in a comprable boat with that engine I would be pushing past 70, I can only get up to 65), Storage is almost a joke compared to new boats, Deep hull, has about 3-5 inches deeper draft depending on fuel, fuel tanks are in back and not under the benches like most new boats so it screws with your weight distribution.

For a starting boat I would Highly recommend it because it's the fat girl at the party that knows what she's doing, but she's still a fat chick. If your going for money tourney's get something better on gas and towing like a 17-18 ft.
