that suxes..I think you will need to lift the power head to get to that. a good repair manual should walk you through the steps

To replace tube..... Remove powerhead, remove lower unit, remove adapter plate that powerhead sets upon. Then and only then can you replace the water tube as it bolts up to the bottom of the adapter plate.

Try this....... grab tube with smal pair of vice grips..... or long nose pliers if you have a hefty grip, Pull down while applying pressure to the bent kinked area. This procedure may allow the tube to drop down to the original level. I've done this to tubes that others have kinked and all turned out well. You have nothing to lose by trying this anyhow as the alternative is a hellava lot of work.

Measure from the top surface of the lower unit up to the bottom area of the water tube grommet within the water pump.

Now, measure from the bottom surface of the long exhaust housing (Hsg that contains the water tube) up to that measurement. This is where that water tube must be pulled down to in order to be inserted into the water pump properly.

I do wish you luck.

I pulled it down enough i think the round shape goes in the grommet when i try it but it is a little deformed from round , does it have to be an exact fit or could it be off just a little and still pump.

Could i use some sealer where the tube inserts into the grommet and let it sit overnight just to make sure i get a good seal or would this not be recommended like i said my tube is just slightly off from being round its kinda flared a little where i tried to round it back on the bottom of the tube.

Any chance you can post some pictures? If that tube does not fit properly as Joe said you could cook your powerhead.

Use long nose plier and carefully work your way around that tube until it's about as round as one can get it. Then using a file, taper the outside of the tube somewhat so that it will glide into the water pump grommet smoothly (apply some grease on the inside of that grommet).

Double check the measurement between the bottom of the long exhaust housing and up to the bottom of the water tube. You want that tube to absolutely glide down to the bottom portion of the grommet for a good seal.

Do not attempt to use sealer as it's a waste of time. That junction is either perfect or as close to perfect as one can get it..... OR you're faced with a hellava job. Lets hope you're one of the lucky ones.

how far into the grommet should it go right now it goes about halfway when i measure it out, also my grommet looks tight at top and tapered on one side does the taper go up or down. Also which o ring goes under the impeller the skinny or thicker one. i know one goes on the upper shaft but one is thicker than the other.

You want the tube to almost bottom out within the grommet. It's a good idea to have a piece of copper tube the same size to obtain a good idea as to how much tube that would be.

The "O" Rings...... lost track of that one so I'll leave the answer to that up to another member.

Is the tube straight normally? If so, you may be able to ream it with a blunt/tapered rod from the inside??

Just a thought,

Mas
