Overhauling a 1994 Tubo Jet 115 Evinrude. Number 4 piston did a meltdown in the center, and Top roller bearing chewed up the crank. We purchased a used 1988 outboard complete for parts. On dissasembly we found that two rod throws on the crank, on only one side of the crank had marks on them (only half way around the throw). The rod bearing had marks on the roller cage. So. What to do now? We have two cranks with damage. One on the front bearing surface and one with marks on two throws. Gamble and buy another crank? Or have one repaired somehow?

Re: Knee deep in bad cranks.

I've never used a rebuilt crank and don't know if I trust them or not. I'd keep looking for a good used one. There's lots of 'um out there.
Go to:
http://www.screamandfly.com/

and check their parts for sale forum.

c/6

Hooty
