Hey guys, I recently got rear ended at a stop light as I was trailering my boat home. The collision pushed the boat forward on the trailer several feet (which absorbed most of the energy apparently). As far as i've been able to tell, the only damage was it mangled the winch stand on the trailer, it took a chunk out of the port side of the Tell Tale fin on the L/U, and it bent the "Lever" trim bracket that locks the motor up out of the water. I had already been planning on selling this boat in the next year before the accident ever happened, so I've decided not to buy a brand new L/U for it. I'm planning on selling it and using that money for a bigger boat. Do you guys think that a metal fabricator can weld in a new piece of aluminum for the L/U? If not, would it be cheaper/easier to buy an empty L/U housing and switch my current internal parts over or would it be cheaper to buy a complete but used L/U somewhere and swap it in? Thanks

Personally if you were rear ended I would have everything inspected by a dealer. you may have more damage than you think. Depending on what state you are in the person who hit you is responsible for repairs. You probably need to have it profeshionaly repaired and warranted.
