Re: Labor Day Weekend
Well,

While most of you were out boating, fishing and havin a whooping good time, I met my dad's half sister for the first time.

Never knew my grandparents on my father's side... too young. Only a toddler when Grandpa passed away in August 1959. My Grandma passed away in late 56 or early 57. Before the ground had settled around the grave, Grandpa re married... a woman 1/2 his age and moved to Kentucky. Shortly thereafter she bore him a daughter. My family here made no contact with them after Grandpa's death in '59 so I was not aware of my "aunt" or her mother.

My dad passed away last year. My Uncle informed me of all this after his funeral. So, after 45 years of no contact, we met this past weekend. I also met my "step-grandma" who is up in years and residing in an assisted living home. It was a blessed experience. You never would have believed how emotional she got. It was very touching.

Well worth giving up my weekend for.
