Lack of power.......

I had a problem when picking up speed, the motor died, but when I pushed the choke it picked up speed and then everything ran smooth.......40mph.......
I was souggested to clean the jets on the carb and the problem was solved. The boat does not die when trottling up BUT now it is very slow to get on plane and the WOT is 30mph.........it seems like it is running at 70% of its power.

Can it be that the timing is out or the spark advance........I really dont know how to adjuts it, I have the manual, and have read how to do it and also read many posts about it but I feel I am not ready to do this on my own.

What do you think? could this be the problem o something else? Could it be lack of fuel?...........

Its better to get carb rebuild kits and go through them completely.

Re: Lack of power.......

I did use the rebuild kits.

I did place the carbs where they were.

I noticed that there are two type of jets: two with small orifice and two with large orifice on each carb. The small ones came from the upper portion of the carb bowl and the two large ones from the sides of the bowl.

The 4 large orifice jets (two carbs) were mixed up, so I put them on the sides of the two bowls but not where each one came from. The same thing with the small ones.

Could this mistake be the problem? What can I do to fix it?

Re: Lack of power.......

I am going to get the carbs out tonight..........I cant find the proper order for the jets. Where they are supposed to go, with the numbers of each jet and the position.

Can anyone help me with this info?

Re: Lack of power.......

I found on a diagram that the jets that go on the sides of the bowl are 67C and the ones on top of the bowl are 25C.

I will take them out today and see if they are placed as they should.

Any suggestions?
