Lake Anna to ourselves

I spent the weekend with some good friends at their home on Lake Anna in Virginia. They are moving to the Tampa Bay area in two weeks and invited us up to enjoy their beautiful lakefront home before moving out at the end of this month. They have a Glastron SX 195 I/O with a 5.0 litre Mercruiser; it's a great boat to ski behind, pulls you right out of the water.

The weather was cool, mid to upper 60's, but the water was still warm. The area has been experiencing record drought for quite some time and the level of the lake was significantly low, so low that most people couldn't use thier lifts; our friends' ramp had a shallow puddle under it and that was about it.

In spite of the low levels, the lake was beautiful, the skies were beautiful, and we had the whole lake to ourselves Friday and Saturday. We only saw 3 or 4 boats on the water the whole time; this means smooth water for some water-skiing. We slid into the wetsuits, and strapped on the skiis:

As you can see this water is begging for some skiing

Here I am, reluctant to get out of the long-sleeves

In my superhero 4 mil full suit; later I discovered the 2-mil shortie would be adequate

It took a couple of tries, but I finally got up on one ski for the first time in many years!

As you can see, the Glastron had plenty of power to pull Greg and I both at the same time.

Check out the seaplane in the hanger... I really need one of these!!!

Yea TD, definitely sore on Sunday, sitting on a plane coming home definitely was no help; couple of ibuprophen last night and I'm not too bad today though!

There is definitely still time Ziggy! You'll notice, I started out in my full wetsuit, but later ended up in the shortie. I tried a couple of rounds in just trunks and a BodyGlove exposure shirt... fine in the water but at 25+ MPH, not so good!

It was the perfect time for getting the feel of one ski again; Greg said that during season, you can hardly find a spot to ski and the water is chopped up by all of the boat traffic. We went for hours without seeing another boat, and it was so quiet!

My in-laws live right on the lake. It's a very nice place to boat and when no one is in the water and wind is low it's nice and smooth. I wanted to go down this past weekend but couldn't get out. Hopefully we can get down there one last time this weekend. supposed to be in the upper 70's woohoo

Better hurry macr6, that water is getting lower by the minute; hopefully you guys will get some rain soon. Don't forget the wetsuit!
