Lake Erie boaters - heads up

SAFETY FIRST! Having kids we alway have everything and beyond to pass USCG inspection and even have them at the beginning of the season do an inspection check list with us. Well we just bought a new (to us) boat and got it inspected yesterday morning and passed and recieved our 2011 sticker. So now it's time for our first launch, up the river to the lake and there they were flagging us and others over to their tie off dock for surprise inspection. Of course I don't mind as all authority figures are always welcome on our boat, everything was good to go and during our talking they told us with all the lake traffic (barge parties, festivals, holidays, fish tournys ect) they are keeping a very close eye out.

All I'm saying is make sure you give everything a good once over before heading out.

Naw, you just can't cruise with a loaded cannon. Practice loading at home, just be sure that you never point it at your house. Always point it at a neighbors house.

Slight adaption of my friends bosses thoughts on cutting with a utility knife.

I would have hoped your 2011 sticker would have exempted you from or expedited the surprise inspection.

They said had they seen it before waving us over they probably would have just let us go on by since we didn't look suspect. They also said it does show that you have taken the initiative but it is not manditory and does not stop other USCG or patrol from boarding because you would be suprised what people try to pull off. Can't argue with that.

Yea they are running the harbor boats at Camp Perry, they have twin ma dueces on them. Dang puddle pirates have no sence of humor.
