Can someone out there recommend a Lake Trout tackle retailer? I'd like to find one that has a comprehensive online catalog. Thanks in advance. :D

Mostly trolling. I plan to go to Colorado and fish Twin Lakes, Clear Creek Reservoir, and Blue Mesa this summer. I need to start gearing up.

I find that lake trout are very easy prey.
If you use lead line instead of trolling gear and shad or cisco or even pike minnows for bait you are sure to catch them by the tub full
The trick is finding out about the under water currents and the under water slopes and structure.
Lake trout love being on the back side of the slopes hiding in structure while the current goes over them bringing in the bait.

Re: Lake Trout Tackle

I used to fish in the AZ high mountain lakes for trout. Our skunk-proof rig for trolling trout was 40"-48" gold cowbells with a 12" mono leader, with half of a night crawler on the hook. Never got skunked using that rig for trolling, and last time I went fishing up at Reservation Lake (Apache reservation in the AZ White mountains), my buddy and I had landed at least 15 keeper-sized rainbows and browns apiece inside of an hour.

I used to buy the cowbells locally in Tucson, but since I don't live in AZ anymore (still go back once a year for a fishing trip) I order them from Cabelas.
