I have a friend who has a summer home in Meredith which is on the lake and a very nice town. Laconia area is another great place, especially around Weirs Beach. Loads of stuff going on over there. The lake is a good size. You won't see 1/2 of it in a week. Lots of islands to explore, restaurants to take your boat to, etc. Here's a few links for you:

Just as an aside, if you are heading up to Lake Winnie, you may want to take a one or two night detour to Hampton Beach. We LOVE Hampton. It has a fantastic commercial strip with old-style arcades, restaurants, shops, water slide, The Casino, etc. Hampton is relatively small so you wouldn't want to spend more than two nights there but it has more fun packed into that small space than most places you'll ever see. Be wary of the rock ledges and boulders that lie just below the surface scattered around the islands and shorelines. Lots to explore and do! Weirs Beach (sp?) is the "happening" spot if you like crowds.
