Lakemaster version 5 chip work in Helix 9? Lakemaster version 6 or 7?

I put the chip in to one of the slots, see the screen flash quick, but then no maps load up. Does anyone know for sure if this should work? Also if I do have to get a newer chip I am seeing both version 6 and 7 available and same price. What is the point in getting 6 if 7 is out? Thanks for any help.
