I have a Compaq V5000 laptop with the amd Semprom processor. The laptop has only 384 MB of ram. Im sure thats cause its sharing system mem with the vid card. I want to upgrade the memory and Im not sure which type to get. I think It is 166 or 233 bus speed but I am not sure and compaq will not tell me unless I order it from them! Does anyone know how I can find out?

You can look it up at:

It's been several years, but I used to call Kingston to find memory for customers. I would get a human on the phone pretty quickly and they would tell me what I needed to know. Make them give you their part number, you may find it dirt cheap on eBay or elsewhere.

Then either buy it from them, or from somewhere else once you know what type it takes.

The larger memory vendors will allow you to find the memory chips that you need by entering your specs on their website. You can then search wherever to find what you need.Ron G
