What would happen if I put a 125hp force on a 85 Capri that had a 85hp? I personally rebuilt the transom recently, so its good as new if not better. Was thinking I could put an aluminum or steel plate on the backside if need be.

Re: Larger motor?

And the 125 has tilt/trim, the 85 does not. Can I just run some wires and switches to the dash?

I think it would just be way faster! and pretty cool. I would just wire the trim up to a toggle switch on ur dash. Whats ur max horse power rating for ur boat? If the 125 exceeds it u could maybe get in to trouble but idk for sure.

The boat will be 5-10 MPH faster. You run the risk of getting an expensive ticket for overpowering if the hull is not rated for 125.

Here is a 125 on a 14 foot flat bottom rated originally for about 40. It did 55 with a 90 and will top out at 60 MPH with the 125. It can not be turned at speed. Yes, overpowering can be dangerous.
