Anybody know off hand what the largest Salt Water Trolling Motor you can buy is and how large a boat can be moved with it?

Ralph, Minn-Kota makes the Rip Tide in a 36 volt 101 pound motor. It should take care of most any size you can use the shaft length on....

Ralph,

I just put a 101 on my Lund. MotorGuide makes a 109 though, but thats the steel shaft. Pushes my 20 footer along no problem, I've posted bunches of links here under other peoples MK trolling motor questions. Lot's of good info out there on the net too. I'd imagine you want salt water version. There's a place that modifies the big hand controls and makes them foot controlled. I got some dig. pics of my bow setup if you want. mtowey@analogic.com

Re: Largest SW Trolling Motor?

Im looking for another electric motor, already have a 28 or 32 pounder, not sure what it is, but I figure two is better than one, in case one busts

Im going to keep two trolling batteries on board too, I know its more wieght but just in case, 12 hours of trolling battery time can get me back into shore, even if its a beach, tides in del bay dont rip that badly

may have to wait til change of tide to make the inlets tho, lol

(I know, twin engines shouldnt conk, but the idea of that 125 horse is appealing to me as well!)

I put twin 36 pounders on the original Hydrophobia, hummed along quite nicely, with me and my buddy Jim on board, and towing a canoe with two more good sized guys ... the canoe boys pulled away in the morning, I said to Jim, they are making pretty good time, pass the thermos ... poured a cup of coffee, then brought the other engine on line, and we waved as we passed the paddlin boys (they didnt need coffee, the sweating effort of paddling kept em warm)

we were into nice sized trout by the time they arrived, hehehe, Paul (who now owns Hydro I) nearly dumped the canoe on his first cast

naturally, when I get "the boys" back together for the opener this spring, Hydrophobia will be side by side with her sister ship

Jim can fish with me, no problem, I think well go to Hopatcong or some other big lake, if the weather kicks up, Ill bring em on board and tow the little guy behind. that beamy deep 18 foot starcraft should take anything that a jersey lake can dish up

well, cept Paul, but thats another story, lol

:D :D :D :D
