LARSON 166 TROUBLES

I HAVE 1968 LARSON 166 WITH A 4CYLINDER CHEV 2.5L MOTOR: MY PROBLEM IS I CAN GIVE THE MOTOR THROTTLE AND IT RUNS FINE AT FIRST, UP TO 4000RPM, AND THEN IT STARTS SLOWING DOWN, THE RPM DROPS TO BETWEEN 2500 AND 3000 AND THE BOAT SEEMS TO BE GOING ABOUT 15 TO 20 MILES AN HOUR. ONCE YOU LET IS SIT FOR AWHILE, I.E.30 MIN OR SO. IT RUNS O.K. AGAIN, BUT SHORTLY DOES THE SAME THING AFTER IT WARMS UP A BIT, ANY IDEAS WILL BE HELPFUL. ALSO ANY SPECS, REF TUNING, SETTING POINTS, MODIFICATIONS,WOULD BE HELPFUL.. IT HAS A MERCRUISER FOOT, HOW CAN I TELL WHAT MODEL IT IS, I.E ALPHA, PRE ALPHA OR WHAT ?

ALSO WHAT KIND OF PROPS WILL FIT THE FOOT?, INCLUDING PERFORMANCE TYPE PROPS IF ANY?

Please Loose the Cap-Lock..........<br />CAPITAL LETTER TYPING IS CONSIDERED YELLING,+ IS RUDE,..........<br />Besides,.... I find it Hard to Read.............<br /><br />#2,......Wander over Here,... And have a Look around......... You should be able to find Most of the info you're looking for.........<br /><br />BTW,........ You'll find No "MODIFICATIONS," available for the 2.5l,...... It's a Little Bitty motor....If you want to Go Faster,....... Get a Bigger Motor...........<br />And,... "PERFORMANCE TYPE PROPS" are Out of the Question for a Little 2.5l....... You Don't have the Horsepower to use 1............<br /><br />Your poor running issue Sounds like a Fuel Delivery Issue..........<br />It Could be Anything from the Tank Vent,..... To the Carb.,+ Everything In-Between..........<br /><br />Good Luck...

thanks, also cap locks force of habit at work.. what types of engines could I inter change. will a 3.0 ltr inline 6 work with the pre alpha outboard/foot?
