Hi everyone !
I have allways loved boats but never owned one.
Now my wife and I are looking into buying one.
We are looking at a 22' Larson Hampton 220 with a Volvo Penta 5.0 duoprop. We love the boat.
Can you guys give me some opinions on this boat?
Also, I would like to have an idea as how much fuel will I spend per season. I understand that this question can have an infinity of answers but I was hoping perhaps somebody could give me a general idea of what to expect based on your own experiences. Unfortunately, money is not unlimited. :(

Re: Larson 220 How much fuel ?

As a general rule, a 4-stroke gas engine will burn about 1 gallon per hour for every ten horsepower running wide open. eg a 190hp will use up to 19gal/hr. Cruising speed will burn 60-80% of that figure, at least if you drive like me. Most boaters don't put much more that 100 hours per year on a boat after the first year and that includes idling. 2-strokes burn more (way more if you get an old one) and diesels burn less. Most recreational boaters can't make a diesel pay for itself.
