Just bought a new larson and i am happy with the boat except for 1 problem. It starts fine idles smooth but when i put it in trolling speed the rpm's drop off to where it stalls every now and then. Not sure if the idle needs upped or what. The dealer i got it from is about 2 hour ride and i was hoping it may be a quick fix.

Re: Larson lx 1750 question

Hey usmarkos, is your Larson fuel injected, if so there is a idle air control valve. I have a 2010 LX 1850 fuel injected, 4 cyl. I believe there is no idle adjustment, although there is throttle cable adjustment on the engine, but don't think that will help. Mine has also been stalling, but when shifting, I'm pretty sure that it has something to do with one of the shift cables not releasing quick enough & engine interupter which momentarily stalls the engine for easier shift. When going to neutral it stays in forward few seconds or more, which can be dangerous, calling dealer tomorrow, he's 1 hour away.

Re: Larson lx 1750 question

I had the same problem when I purchased my boat. My dealer sent a driver 3 hours to my home and got the boat and returned it within 48 hours. They said it was a 5 minute fix with an adjustment at the cable. After the adjustment, I've logged 100 hours with no problems.

BTW: I wanted my local Mercruiser shop to make the adjustment, but the warranty on Mercruiser's doesn't cover "adjustments". That's why I made my dealer come and get it, because they covered it under the boats MFG warranty as a "installation issue".

Good luck and keep us posted on how you resolution.

Not sure if my problem is the same as above but this is the type of engine in my boat.Volvo Penta 3.0 GL WPS, 135 HP. You guys have the same or a different engine. I am just trying to figure this out before i call the dealership in Ohio. Thanks for the input. If you have the same engine what does the GL Wps stand for anyway.

Re: Larson lx 1750 question

Your engine has a carburetor, not MPI (multi port (fuel) injected). It could be just a simple carb adjustment. Ask your dealer what rpm it should be idling at. Think the WPS stands for -with pump start. Let us know how you make out. As for me I think my shift cable is out of adjustment.

Took the boat to the dealer and it turns out it was a problem with the carb. They fixed it quickly. Something to do with the low speed needle adjustment on the carb.(factory problem). Took it out to a lake near the dealership and it now purrs like a kitten. Hopefully this is the end of the problem and now its back to boating and a little tubin

Re: Larson lx 1750 question

usmarkos, good to hear its fixed, that can ruin a day of boating. Just got mine back too, apparently the electric connectors for the engine shift (kill) interrupter were not connected from factory, causing hard shifting, so they took care of that and reprogrammed the computer with the latest software. Hopefully its good. How do you like your Larson otherwise? Did you have a boat before this one? I had an "88 18 ft Imperial bow rider for 13 years with a Volvo engine it was a great boat except the floor was rotting, they gave me 1500.00 on trade in. That sealed the deal. Have fun.....

Re: Larson lx 1750 question

I had a bayliner a few years ago. It was a 20 footer with a volvo engine. The boat was a good runner, never any problems. After switching jobs i sold it because with shift work i hardly used it.Got different work schedule now so have more time off so wanted another boat. Other than the carb problem with the Larson I love it. You can tell the Larson uses better material in their boat building compare to the bayliner. Takes waves better and nothing rattles when you do hit the waves. With the 4 cylinder its nice to run all day on a tank of gas!
