Re: Larson/OMC Tachometer Harness

I'd expect the connector to be a part of the wiring harness in the boat. If it isn't, it means the boat wasn't designed for that gauge. Are you sure the connector isn't taped back someplace, or fallen into some crevice behind the dash?

Otherwise, you'll have to figure out how to interface the signals available on your wiring harness to that tach. It might not be easy; if the tach is for a 4 stroke and your engine is a 2 stroke, for instance. I also don't see a switch on that tach to set the number of cylinders.

You'll need to fabricate a harness if you go that route. You'll need to get the pinout from the gauge manufacturer. I think that's a Deutch DT-series connctor; you'll need to wire up the connector to get the right signals to the right pins.

You can read about Deutch connectors at this brocure: http://www.deutschipd.com/dt_series_brochure.pdf

I dont believe that tach is combatable with your engine,it looks like it is for a much newer model, with electronic circuts. All you need is a tach ,your eng.isn't wired for the other accessories like oil and check eng.You might find a dealer that will swap you that one for the kind you need. I would bet the tach you are showing is big bucks. You can get a generic brand, all you need is pos, neg, and pulse . Pulse would be a grey wire in your eng harness
