Is there any Larson Owners here that manage to remove and install the steering cable without having to remove motor?

Im looking for Larson owners with Johnson outboard motors from year 1994 to 1999 with the SEI model. I have the 17' Sei 174

Thank you

seriously doubt you can do it without removal of the motor, the space is too tight, to get rod thru tilt tube. many boats are designed this way. poor engineering on boat designers part.

All you have to do is unbolt the motor and lift it up with a hoist and let it hang there while you work on the steering. You don't have to disconnect everything. Not as bad as it sounds.

Marine Grade Silicone, Sorry Craig but i have to disagree. the white stuff is 3M 4200 sealant. sillycone, really does not belong on a boat.

3M 4200 is made for removable things. 3M 5200 is made for a PERMANENT attachment.

Yeah, if it's glued on it probably is 4200 but silicone is not uncommon.

Both the 4200 & 5200 are polyurethane adhesives and I don't see a point in gluing to the transom. The adhesive is a pain when you have to pull one off, it can and will take gelcoat with it if you don't pull piano wire through it first.

Seal the bolt holes with the 4200 and always use nylocks on the bolts.

3M makes some great products, marine catalog link. http://multimedia.3m.com/mws/mediawebserver?mwsId=SSSSSu7zK1fslxtUNx_BoY_Uev7qe17zHvTSevTSeSSSSSS--

Took of the motor yesterday, the glue was like hard gum. it definitely was not silicone. Engine was not easy to remove because its heavy and i didnt have a lift, i just tied it to a post on my garage. Anyways, can this glue I need be found at Lowes or Homedepot? Thanks.

Not available at homedepot or lowes but West marine had it for $14 for 3oz tube which was more than enough.
