So I posted this from my iphone but it didn't post my note.

I got this boat from my dad 20yrs ago. He bought this boat new when I was 2 months old. It hasn't been on a lake since 1995. I started to restore it 2 years ago but stopped shortly after I started. But I'm back on the mission this week. I have the shop working on the transom, motor mounts, gas tank and cables. I'm also having someone buff out the gel coat next week.

I took the engine out 2 years ago and have the heads rebuilt and ready to go back on. My buddy, who is a GM mechanic, looked at the bottom of the engine and said it looks perfect and to put it back together with new water pump and seals.

Upholstery shop is waiting for seats and biminy top for new covers. I'll take them over next week.
The windsheild is badly weather checked and needs replacing. That is a big problem to find someone to fabricate one for less than $600. I did find an identical boat on craigslist for under $500 that I can part out, including a much better trailor, so I think I'll pick that up tomorrow. The windshield on that one looks nice.

Updates coming.

Oh, I see from your pictures it's a '68. The color is a bit darker than mine.

Very nice boat. Love the i/o version, as you have already seen my daughter's outboard on our post. Any interior pictures?
We are going to make a new windshield ourselves. We just recently took the windshield off, and I am heading out there shortly to remove the frame. We can't save it as there are some deep cracks right in from of the driver and passenger that will never buff out. I think I can make a new one. However, if someone is quoting you $600, that it really not bad. The material alone can be half that.
Hopefully the Larson you would pick up for parts is past use...so sad to see them die. That said, let me know if there are usable parts on it that you don't need once you get the windshield off...I need a tachometer for sure, and a horn:)

I've decided not to buy it. The windshield has 3 cracks in it. We've decided to go new. There are a lot of useable parts on that boat. Horn and chrome look good. Instruments look good. Are you close enough to pick up that boat in Dallas?

i think the spear is the same color, i painted the cap, close to the same color. i removed the snaps and had to hide some glasswork. i really enjoy the boat, not a very fast hull, but i rarely go over 20mph any way. handles chop nicely.

16' 120hp Chevy 4 cylinder

thanks, i was curious, i thought about putting a 120 on mine, the max it is rated for and i still might some day but for now i like cruising around 20mph. only at wot and being overtaken by a faster boat then i wish for more power, something psychological i guess:noidea:

I've decided to get that boat after all. There's no tach on it that I see but the horn is there. Let me know what parts you're interested in.

Can't make the pic upright for some reason.
Finally finished the engine and outdrive this week. Now hooking it up to fuel and spark, plus hooking up exhaust next week. Then carpet and seats.

After 25 plus years she is on the water again. Took the family out a few weeks ago. Still needs a little tuning up though.
