Well guys, I'm nearing the end of getting my boat and motor ready to put on the lake after being out of the water for 10 plus years. So far, I've had to replace the gear grease, water impeller, internal wiring harness (actually haven't put it on yet but it'll be here tomorrow), plugs and cleaned the carbs. Any last minute suggestions, recommendations, do's and don'ts before I take and put this on the lake?

I also want to thank everyone who gave me advice/suggestions on what needed to be done to the motor. And as a way of saying thanks, I'd like to "cyber" buy everyone a "cyber" beer!!!! :D :D

Hi, Jumper.

Click on "SEARCH" at the top of the page and enter "Hey, New Boater". Lots of good scoop there.

Good luck. :)

hey
when i'm trying a "new" motor i always bring 2 paddles and a kicker or an electric trolling motor. go up river if on a river, or make ALOT of circles if on a lake before venturing out very far. bring a cell-phone/frs radio and let someone know who has a boat where you are going and that you might need them. believe me, i say all this from experience.
heres hoping you dont need any of it...
LM

JB
Did the search and learned a few extra things. Thanks for the suggestions and help!

LM,
That's the kind of stuff I'm looking for. The "There I was..." or "I learned this the hard way..." stories. I've got an electric trolling motor so if "it" hits the fan, I've got some sort back up. :D Thanks!

Jumper; You have done everything just right. You did all the obvious then listened to J.B. You could not find a better way to go. There are about a dozen guys advice you can take to the bank, and J.B. is sure one of the best.

The only thing I can think of that hasn't been mentioned is to HAVE FUN! Thats what it's all about. Happy Boating, Hal
