I am getting ready to start my 1985 Johnson 15 hp for the first time as soon as the last parts get here. As soon as the starter spring gets here I will do a compression test first, Then, I will try to start it up if the compression is good. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

It does. It had so many parts hanging from it before, started wrapped, broken sparl plug wires,no spark plugs in it,lots of bags of parts inside the lower cowling, that I couldn't start it like that before. I could have after I got everything off of it,but was kinda scared by what I had bought. I decided to wait until I got the starter all back together to wait until then to try to start it. At least this way I would have something that I could sell for a profit if the compression wasn't any good. I got the motor for $100
