Had to qet in one more run, and today was above forty and sunny. I was itching to try out the 1960 Johnson 10 after converting it back to a short shaft.
The earlier test in the barrel showed no water, and dropping the lower unit again showed that the pump grommet had jammed down in the socket and was totally restricting the flow. New grommet, de-burred water tube, o'ring lube, and this time plenty of water.
Lake test today confirmed everything fine with re-sealed lower unit, and motor running great after many years of sitting idle. These motors were really meant to last. Happy Thanksgiving!
