I just finished the work on the haul 31ft center console, 8'6" beam, and engines 225 mercs, now the final step: Find the perfect console. The 31 contender console seems to be the perfect design, anyone know were I might find one,(other than on a new Contender, I'm about 135 grand short on that deal) or similar?
thanks for the help.

Well i know around here in Rhode Island we have a few marine consighnments they allways have consoles and other parts from all different years. You may even want to look at some of the boatbuilding books Ive seen many center console projects.
Hope this helps
Garrett

How darn hard can it be to build a center console?
I believe JasonJ built one for the BEAST and it looks good to me.

You can make one out of plywood and cover it with glass and epoxy. Then paint it with a good boat paint. Should look good.

You could always build up a female mold and glass yourself a custom console, although by the time you are done with materials you probably could have bought one. I went the easy route and made mine of wood, but have since realized I have more weight in it than I want. At this point I could either rebuilt it again to be lighter, or just live with it until the next project. Depends on how bored I get...

ok here is a crazy idea, but maybe would turn out pretty cool looking, and lightwieght. Use sort of a sailboat helm type design, all tubular alum., and use a strato-glass "phone booth" for wind protection, get more deck space. I do like the challenge of a mold project never did one. Thanks for the ideas.
