Hey guys,

Just bored, thought I'd share one of my weak moments with you.

Last summer, me and a buddy took my 21' Tempest out on the river that runs through town. Just a test and tune cruise. The boat ran great, the best since I've owned out. So we get back to dock just as its getting dark. Get trailer in the water. My buddy is up on the dock watching (he only has use of one arm, so I was pretty much on my own.) I'm down on the ramp cranking the boat up with the winch, when he yells out "The trucks rolling!" I had it in park, E-brake on and a block behind a wheel.. (what i didn't mention until now is the truck was a 97' Sonoma.. I only had to tow the boat 4 blocks, and it pulled it out of the ramp surprisingly well.. none the less not nearly enough truck for that much boat..) So anyways, at first I thought he was just messin' with me.. I turn around, and the truck is comming at me. I just made it out of the way, and luckily the wheels turned, putting the back bumper into a steel post holding the dock up. That stopped it. The truck was under water up to the front tire. Water came inside when I opened the door. So I got the boat on the trailer, and figured I was going to have to call for a tow out the ramp but tried it on my own anyways, and Old Chugger thats 2 wheel drive parked in the river slop pulled right out like it was its job. Couldn't believe it.

Anyways, that was last time that truck ever hooked onto that boat. Got real lucky that day. If I got pinned I probably would have drowned.

The only thing i Can figure is my outdrive got hung up on something, and when I was cranking on the winch, it pulled the truck in, instead of the trailer out.

Anyways, thats my horror story of 2008. Let's hear yours!?!?

Chris.

Re: Last Summers Horror story!

back in the day.... well early 1990s anyway..has the statute of limitations expired?
me and the CRAZY ex-girlfriend were out in the old LoneStar late-maybe 2-3AM drinkin and acting like fools. it was very windy and the boat light and high profile. I was not able to get it on the trailer straight at the ramp it kept blowing sideways so I tied a rope to the rear cleat and the dock. I was very intoxicated and Pi$$ed off. I finally had the boat on the trailer but could not untie the stern cleat rope- I needed something to cut it with and picked up a beer bottle and broke it on the ramp.( to cut the rope. I now volunteer picking up trash at the lake - I am a responsible person!)

The CRAZY ex -girlfriend thought I was coming after her with the broken beer bottle and took off running.

she ran about a 1/4 mile away before I picked her up in the truck.

Yes-I know- beer bad when driving or boating and I'm not proud of it but it did happen long ,long ago and far, far away..

My car rolled into the lake as well, the door was left open and it grinded against the side of the ramp and stopped the car. water was just up to the steering wheel, i got in and tried to start it for the heck of it, and it started right up and i drove away, to this day the ecu, abs, and cd changer work flawlessly, and they were submerged.
