I got this old Scott Atwater 5hp for free yesterday the guy who gave it to me knew nothing about it or even if it ran. I got it to run today. it only runs if i spray fule in the carb. i don't have the modle number on me at the moment but what i was wondering is can some one point me to a onlin breakdown of the carb and can anyone tell me if i can still buy parts for this old of a outboard.

I may be able to post the carburetor parts page, if I knew which one to post. Need that model number. Or even a description would help. Color? Fiberglass or metal hood? Gas tank on top, or remote? Is it a Bail-A Matic?

You won't find parts at the corner gas station, but there are a few out there. Depends on what you need. One source is http://www.laingsoutboards.com

its a Bail-o-matic. the only numbers i can find on the plate are serial# 37653100 H.P. 5 R.P.M. 4200. Is there any other place to find the model number?

3765 is the model number. It is a 1956. Be patient, I'll have to find and scan the page you want.

It's a 1956, 10 hp outboard. Before messing with the carb., make sure it's getting fuel. STOP spraying starter fluid in it. The eather cleans all the oil off the cylinder walls. You could end up blowing the motor !

awesome motiors.. the old Scott atwaters bring back memories of childhood.. I used to have a 40's 3.5hp model. Best running motor! my passengers just had to cover their heads when i started the motor with a knotted rope! ouch.
