Motor's not running right, but for now was wondering which cylinder drives the fuel pump? Think I am getting wash out. TIA

For what it's worth, my '85 - 35hp uses cylinder 1, per the service manual I have.

Thanks, pump is mounted low on my block. Looks like between 2 & 3. Did a fuel pump rebuild after 30 years, but problem returned. Won't run above 3000-3500 and rough idle. DVA readings check out.

Post compression test numbers.------What do you mean by " washout " on this motor?

118 dry on all three, closed throttle, same reading I got 10+ years ago. By washout I mean fuel from pump leaking into cylinder. #2 or 3 plug was clean, don't remember from last year. Boat is now my "non ski season" boat. Plan on test running it this week and get it fixed if it acts up. New plugs this year too.

For mine, the service manual states if you are getting fuel into cyl 1, leaving a wet plug, you have a tear in the fuel pump membrane. Recommends holding the fuel pump membrane towards a light and checking...mine had two tears along the outside edges...
