i have a 74 merc and am having trouble with the shifting. it sits in neutral ok but to get into gear (forward or reverse) i have to push the control lever about halfway down. i tried adjusting the cables and i could make it go into forward gear realk nice but it moved reverse way out of range. could the cable just be streatched or and i looking at someother problem
