Did it last saturday. My trailer is equipped with 2 (TWO) pins that have to be unlocked before you can tilt the boat. A big pin securing the heavy frame and a small pin to secure the bicycle-catcher (the halfround frame between bow and spare-tire). Forgot the small pin and it wrestled itself loose when the boat tilted, in the process bending the frame so that retrieval became somewhat tricky as we had to hang on the boat with 4 men to secure the big pin. Took the small pin off (no added value). The occasion was a last testdrive as we linked and sinced the motor (40HP Evinrude). Good news was that it did 25 kts on 5200 rpm with a total weight of 800 kilos (1600 lbs). Never went that fast before....getting the hang of it, I guess d:)

Sounds like you got the link and synch down pat, way to go.

Looks like you need to practice the launch and recovery now.. JK

Both of my tailers have this feature, but I've never used it.

Careful using the tilt.

One and only time I thought I would try it, I didn't realize how much heavier the back end of boat was from front. When I released the tilt pin, the back end dropped like a rock catapulting me into the air and into the bow of the boat. Bottom of boat crashed into something on lake bed and I had to break out the gel coat repair stuff:'(

My previous StarCraft had a Tee-Nee trailer under it with the tilt feature. Only time I used it was when we went to Canada. The lake we went to did not have any ramps to launch from and the tilt feature came in handy. Never used it other than that.

Hey Frank! I thought you were a pro at launching with the tilt trailer! Glad to hear it all worked out.

BTW, I think you should be able to get closer to 30 knots with that setup. I do 31 knots with a full load using the same outboard with a Hustler 12.25" x 15* aluminum prop.

I'm curious Frank.....are all the boat ramps in the Netherlands made so you have to tilt the boat off like in the picture??

Re: Launch and cry

Hi Mark,...my boat is somewhat heavy (650 kilo's without crew) and rated for 115 HP, so I think I'm a little underpowered for 30 kts. Sniff !!

OBJ, a lot of ramps are like that...we have almost no "hills" so the water is always close to the surrounding land. Exception are the rivers only and there the difference in height is usually a result of the dikes put up to prevent us all from getting wet feet o:). Even the marinas usually have a lift to take out the boats....I think it also has to do with the unstable ground around our waters. Groundwater-level always being close to the topsoil. A concrete ramp will slowly "sink" and will probably have to be rejuvenated every 4 years or so.

That's very interesting Frank. I guess if a person wants on the water bad enough, he'll find a way....d:)

Wonder if some form of floating ramp would work? It would be boyant enough to float but would allow enough support for a rig to back out on and kinda sink letting the boat float free. Once the boat is free, pull the trailer out and up comes the ramp.

Interesting problem.

That would be a tough one, considering the massive difference in the weight of boats. A loaded large boat on a tri axle trailer can be more than 10,000 # My jonboat trailer is less than 150#.

Then yours would be perfect bb1....LOL!

Yep...would be a tough one to figure. But, if they can build a tunnel under the English Channel and land a guy on the moon......this otta' be easy.....:^
