I finally got my LCX113c hd hooked and powered up at home on Monday. Map showed exactly where I was at. Went fishing yesterday, powered up the unit and GPS map showed my home location. I scrolled to where I was fishing, zoomed in and fished the day. Turned the unit off when I dropped anchor, fished then when leaving I turned the unit on which displayed my home location . How do I set the unit to display my actual location each time I turn the unit on?

Re: LCX113c GPS

GPS units will generally show the last known location at power on... This is because they take up to 30 seconds to acquire the GPS satellite signals and process them into its current position. It used to take anything up to 5 minutes with the first generation GPS receivers.

My advice... don't turn it off if you need instant position information.

So shouldn't it have displayed the spot I was currently at being that that would have been the last know location before turning the unit off? Thanks

Not knowing your unit individually I can only suggest you read the handbook that came with it...

I have experienced some units that will not remember where they were last if you turn them off from an external switch, or just drop power. You have to use the units power off/on button. I had an Eagle Intellimap 502c that worked that way.

Next thing you'll suggest is for me to stop and read the map when I'm lost while driving ...

Hey John, I think you're on to something. I did use the external switch to turn the unit off instead of the power button on the unit. I'll try that next time out.

Thanks to both of you for your reply.
