Lowrance FF not even 2 years old and I can't get it to turn on. Contacted Lowrance and "Unfortunately, due to rapid advancements in the electronics industry, the parts originally used to build your LCX-15MT are no longer available from our vendors. The unavailability of parts for use in repair may be due to the following reasons". Long story short they will not help and no repair available so I am on my own. I have full power to the plug where it connects to the unit, so wiring is not the issue. I am on the way to an electronics store to buy the necessary tools to open it up, but was hoping maybe someone knows of any troubleshooting tips that might help. Thanks for any help.

Re: LCX15MT wont power on

a shot in the dark as i don't have a lot of info. startup power is sometimes more than running power. example: it takes more power to start the fan then to keep it running. did you run an independent wire to your - battery terminal? if you piggy-backed it with a stereo/amp/whatever your voltage loss might be too severe to be able to turn on your device. get a multimeter if you don't have one and test your battery first and then test your voltage at the device. i had this problem with my amplifier. i hope this helped. take care.

ps. i have had problems with my lowrance handheld gps... i'm on my 3rd one. at least they pay for shipping.

Did you triple check the power plug and socket for corrosion or coating causeing the contacts not to touch. Clean the connections then plug in and out many times. The light should come on or flash when you first turn it on. Be aware the unit is filled with nitrogen to keep it dry inside.

Re: LCX15MT wont power on

Thanks for the replies. Tested it at the plug at the unit and have 12.65 volts. Sprayed WD40 into the socket and took a paperclip and cleaned it as best as I could. Also used emory cloth on the plug. Was not aware of the nitrogen but that makes sense, and pretty much eliminates the idea of looking inside for a bad connection or loose wire. Guess it will make a nice paperweight, just a very expensive one :-(
