leaded gasoline

I have a 1994 Johnson outboard, 140hp, model TXAR. It does have oil injection. Would leaded gasoline hurt this engine? It would be diluted with new unleaded gasoline. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Evinin' Big Horn,<br /><br />Leaded gas? Sorry, I am not qualified to speak on this subject BUT BOY!,.... did you raise my eybrows. Where in this day & age can/did you get leaded gas?<br /><br />I thought that stuff was extinct. If it is, then it's so old that you dont want to use it.<br /><br />Good Luck<br /><br />I'm gonna follow this post to see what the experts say.

The only place I know to get leaded fuel is at your local airport. <br /><br />To answer your question...No it will not hurt if the fuel is not very old.

Sirs,<br /><br />Related to this question, here in Venezuela we can find both types of gasoline. <br />Leaded 91 octanes and Unleaded 95 octanes.<br />In my case, i have been used both to my 1990 3.4L Mariner and found good. <br />But I prefer to use the 91 leaded because lubrication properties gas...<br />Leaded gas has special additives like "tetraetilo de plomo" (sorry for language), component which contain lubrication properties.<br />What is your opinion about leaded & octanes for my engine? I wish I knew where to get leaded fuel near me.<br /><br />Your engine was most likely designed to burn leaded fuel, so it should not be a problem.<br /><br />Leaded fuel provides lubrication to the top of the cylinders.<br /><br />If your VRO is functioning properly, then I would not disable it.<br /><br />I have 525 hours on my Mercury with VRO and never had a problem.<br /><br />Seems that there are alot of people out there that do not like these VRO systems, but I have never had a problem.<br /><br />I do a VRO system check every year to verify that it is delivering the correct oil.<br /><br />Also make sure ALL warning circuits are working correctly.

When I raced Karts, we used high octane (110-115 ) leaded gasoline. The lead isn't as critical in two strokes as it is in 4 strokes though. You should be able to find the fuel in local race shops, though it is spendy $4-5 a gallon, maybe more toaday. <br /><br />Here's one vendor http://www.ercracingfuels.com/erca18c.htm

we can still get 108 octane leaded at a couple of gas station around here but it is pricy ($4-5 a gallon)
