Leak Between Gearhouse and Exhaust Housing 1977 115hp Johnson

I have a 1977 115hp Johnson motor 115ETL77S. I had the gearcase resealed last month. Yesterday I took it out for the first time and ran it for 4 hours. It seemed to run fine. I trailered it and when I got home I notice a leak between the gear housing and the exhaust housing. I seemed like it was a mixture of water & oil. and was dark in color.

Is this normal? Is this seal something that is part of resealing the gearcase? My repair shop is located 40 miles from my house. I wanted to check before I took it back to them because I cannot afford for the to make any more repairs at this time unless it is warranty work. I have a manual and I do not see a gasket or seal between them.

Have a great day,

I'm pretty sure there's a weep hole right there for draining out any crud that gets into the exhaust section. The list of crud-like entities includes unburned fuel/oil mix. I'm pretty sure that's what you're seeing there.

Thank you!!!

Don't I feel stupid but, a little relieved. I wiped away the oil and there is a little hole there. How much stuff usually comes out and do I need to keep an eye on it (see transom saver pic)?

Enjoy your day,
