Leak From Strange Location-Photo Included

Please see the picture at the link for exact location of leak(s). The oil is black(dark brown) and sticky. The bottom leak from prop area is likely exhaust residue. The leak above, which seems to be the same colour and consistancy is ???? Lower unit oil has no water in it. Thank You!<br /> Picture of Leaks

Hi chimo<br /><br />I think you are right - both are unburned 2strokeoil. I guess it leaks when run on muffs - right. When cold and without load these cant burn the oil completely. The places you arrow out are both open to the exhaust area. If no water in lower unit oil - no need to worry. Is it a 1991 35 HP ? Good motor.

Thanks. Actually these leaks occur after being "on the lake" It's a 1989 30HP.

What you're seeing is normal. There's no gasket between the mid-section and the gear housing so fuel/oil caca leaks out there. Same for what you see coming out the exhaust. Don' worry.<br /><br />c/6<br /><br />Hooty
