I'm trying to find where water could be leaking in boat from, thought it was transom boot bought new one and replaced, and checked shift cable. only problem i see is where jell coat is worm away at bottom of boat at v. could water seep through fiberglass? any other places to look? 1981 beachcraft with omc 3.8 stringer 800. clear water not from engine takes on about 1 to 3 gallons when out for about 1 to 2 hours in lake.

Yeah, but not the quantity you describe. Could there be a hole or crack down there?
How about the bilge plug- is it tight? I've seen bilge plug flanges (the part thats attached to the hull) so loose that it leaks water around the edges.

will go back outside and look at bilge plug. should be pretty tight never noticed it being loose when putting plug in. just looked under boat and did not see any craks or holes. i guess next time i go out i'll just sit and look for water leaking at back of boat.

Any hole in the tub.

Bow eye, rub rail, ladder.

1 or 2 gallons ain't nothing.

The only way to find a leak is to actually see it. No way in the world cn someone guess where it's coming from.
Could be nothing more than rain water from the decks, engine hatch, blower hoses/vent. Who knows.
You can ask how to fix it after finding it, buy you have to use your eyes, to find it.
