Well its hard to answer a question like this when we have no idea what type of boat you have.

most things on boats are removable and re-sealable..

the duble sided sticky tape (trim tape) they sell for sticking the external trim (plastic bits) on cars makes wonderfull leak-proof gaskets for things like hatch surrounds and such..

trog

There are three places water can get in.

1. Between the trim ring and the deck
2. Between the hatch lid and the trim ring
3. Between the plastic or glass insert and the hatch lid

#3 is where it usually leaks.

Re: leaking cuddy hatch.

Mine (a Bomar) was leaking at the point where the rotating handles bolted through the glass. There are rubber O rings on the outside surface and they had deteriorated. Replacing them was a snap, and with a little lube (do NOT use a petroleum based product) they haven't leaked since.

Prior to finding this, I had rebedded the glass in the frame, purchased and installed a new gasket, and recaulked the hatch ring to the foredeck. Nothing helped.

Good luck !!
