so i bought a supposedly rebuilt 1993 evinrude 140 looper. i noticed that water was spraying out of the head gaskets and weeping out the bolt holes. so i pulled the heads and had them resurfaced and replaced the head gaskets and used OMC gasket sealant and properly torqued them. i also replaced the water pump and thermostats for good measure.
it was fine at first but now i again see salt deposits around the gaskets on both heads and all the bolt holes too! its not just one spot its everywhere. i dont get it.
the motor runs perfect but why cant i get it to seal? i followed the instructions to a Tee. could the block be warped? if so is there a way to resurface the block with it still intact?
