there is emulsified oil leaking out of the lower unit. From what I've read I am going to need to replace the seals.
Do I need to have special tools to replace them???

It is a 1992 Force 150 outboard - Planning to drain the lower unti and remove.
Any advice/suggestions/directions or directions for replacing the seals????

Thanks

No special tools are needed to remove the lower unit but a spanner would be very helpful to remove the sintered steel bearing retainer under the water pump. The rear sealfor the propshaft bearing carrier is simply an O ring while 2 seals are used under the water pump. (Check that thebearing carrier screw-in retaining ring is fully tightened.) These seals are hooked out with a seal puller or even a screwdriver. If you have the bellows seal for the shift rod, no need to replace unless it shows cuts. If your lower has a press-in shift rod seal, pull that with a large lag screw. One or two seals are used inside the prop shaft bearing carrier. Drive them out and replace.

Emulsified oil?? Pics??
Is it clean like new oil?
Or black and smelly?
Or any color from dark brown to tan?
Before you do any seals drain and pressure test the lower.
Might not need any???
Most times the leaking oil is the unburned gas/oil leaking from the carbs.

I'll post some pics tomorrow - The color is dark brown to tan for sure.
If I drain the lower unit (seems like an easier first step) what should I look for regarding color of the fluid and would that be a tell tale sign???
Thanks for the info -
