just got a 1.2 horsepower colt and it runs ok but it was leaking gray oil from a weep hole so I changed the oil and now it seems to be leaking from around the gear housing where the prop section meets the main lower u it

It sounds like unburnt oil from the fuel, which is normal for a 2 stroke.

That’s what I thought until I put a paper towel in the weep hole and the oil then showed it was coming from where the 2 bolts hold the prop/ gear housing

It sounds like normal oil seepage common on 2 stroke motors.-----Oil mixed with gasoline and the workings of a 2 stroke are not well understood.-----Pretty simple to install new oil seals on that little machine.

There is a seal on the driveshaft.----A seal on the propshaft.-----I showed the 8 year old grandson how to change the impeller on a 10 HP once.----I think he ( now 13 ) could change the seals on this simple gearcase.-----Nothing is going to jump at you.

I was quite scared opening it up but my only road block now seems to be a bent prop pin not sure how to get it out with out damaging everything then I should be able to put it back but I’m gonna buy the Evinrude version as I’ve found a cheap one so I have a spare in case one shits the bed
