Leaking Seacock Mounting plates

hI,

i have an an older Uniflite. It is a 23' hardtop cruiser. . It has 4 (four( through-hull fittings with seacocks that are no longer being used. Two of them, in the rear of the boat, are leaking at the mounting plates. It looks like a cheap wood was used, and the wood is now falling apart, because of age, and there is water coming in.

the seacocks are not being used. They are just there. There is nothing hooked up to them and I have no plan to hook anything up to them. Would it be an option to just remove them completely and fiberglass them in??? or, am I stuck with them???

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated and details for how to repair, or fiberglass them in, or a link to a source, would also be a huge help.

Thanks

Re: Leaking Seacock Mounting plates

here is a picture of one of the seacocks. there is a hose attached that was connected to the over-board dumping system for the head. I took the head out and no longer need the seacock. My question is would i be able to pull them out and just fiberglass the holes in, or am i stuck with them??

The two seacocks in the rear of the boat were for water pick-up. Now, they are no longer being used either. I have easy access to all four of them. So, since they are not being used, would it be easier to plug the holes and fiberglass over them, or would it be safer to just fix them and keep the seacocks in place?

thanks in advance
