I have a boat that takes some water. The problem is I can't locate the source. After every outing there is some water in the bilge. Not very much but I would feel better if it stayed dry. It is 15 1/2 bow rider and it is in very good condition. It has been re-powered at some point in time..have no idea when. Because of that I thought maybe the water was coming in through the transom but it is dry. There are no obvious points of entry so I am stymied.

If any of you have ever experienced a similar problem please let me now what you did to locate your problem. If I didn't have a ski locker on the boat I probably would not have noticed this other than water collecting at the sump.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Leaky Boat

dependin on the age of the boat. the rub rail area (bond line between the top and bottom of the boat) is a popular place for leaks that seem undetectable.
what kinda boat exactly is yer 15.5' bow rider? i/o, ob, jet......

I don't know if this will work with your rig or not but has helped me in the past in locating leaks. At night put a really strong droplight into the lower area or areas and then look from the outside for any hints of the light. I have found many leaks this way.

I have also heard of adding water from a hose to the boat in your driveway and see where the water is leaking out of the hull.

Re: Leaky Boat

be real nice to see pics of boat ,particulary the transom area and splashwell.it could be some thing as simple as water getting by the splashwell through a hole ,happened on mine due to the designers putting a supposedly watertight plug thing to run hoses through in the middle of the well.
