Quick question regarding lean vs rich knob. Why is there a rich/lean knob and when would I need to adjust it? (new to boating...) Thanks Brian:D

Re: lean vs rich

lean means a lower fuel/air mixture rich means high fuel /air mixture. the motor has to have the proper mixture to run and lubricate properly. you use it when tuning you motor, get it set and forget it.

read this just for education.

Re: lean vs rich

I am assuming you have one knob and one only. This would be your low speed idle adjustment. If you find you are running poorly at idle you turn that knob to richen (give more gas) or lean (reduce the amount of gas) until it runs the best. Then you leave it alone forever - lol. Once I've set the control, I pop off the knob and put it back on with the arrow in the middle of the control range. That way I always know where it should be set incase it gets bumped during transport or adjusted by someone who doesn't know what its for.
