Hello,
I have a single anxle, 3000 GVWR EzLoader trailer. The right wheel is almost plumb, but the left leans in about an inch and is very noticable. There is NO wobble at any speed, forward or reverse. It bothers me when I watch it in my side view mirror. Is this an immediate concern?

Re: leaning wheel

Not quite enough info to determine if it is an immediate concern. If it was plumb at one time and is now out of whack, then, yes.

Also, it would depend on the type of axle/suspension - i.e. solid axle w/ leaf springs or independent axles with torsion springs. Either way, it needs to be checked out.

Re: leaning wheel

The least you need to do is jack up the axle with the tire off the ground.
Then grab the tire at 9am and 3pm.
Try and wiggle it on-off, etc.
Just looking at it going down the road will still look stable.
Yet the entire assembly might be about to fall off.

Wilco. I was thinking if the shaft is broken somewhere in the square housing then I could see it coming out and off. Thanks. The axle is is close to 300 bucks. I was wondering if I could replace it with one from Tractor Supply ? If need be.

Re: leaning wheel

An inch is extreme. You've got something either very loose, or the axle/spindle is bent.

I think you'd be fine with an axle from TSC, especially if you're boating in fresh water, where
rust isn't such a problem. You'll need to measure the width between hubs, and the width between
spring perches to get the right axle.

Re: leaning wheel

If the spindle was bent, wouldn't the wheel wobble? This is why I am confused.

Re: leaning wheel

thier is only 4 reasons why a tire should ever be out of plumb, 1 a bent rim, and that will wobble, 2 a bent hub, and that also wobbles, 3 bad wheel bearings and jacking up the axle and shake the wheel will detect that, 4 a bent axle slindle, jack it up and spin the tire if it stays stright the spindle bent , if it wobbles its the rim or hub, and tractor supply shouds be as good as any sorce as long as its load rated for the boat and trailer weight and fits
