was fishing with my buddy yesterday just outside fire island inlet in 40-60 ft of water. fishing for fluke we got 11 keepers in the boat and a total of 49 fish. most of them were sand sharks which get to be a pain in the a#*. been catching them for many years and always thought they were harmless. yea ok.. i caught a type of sand shark called the spiny dogfish shark which looks exactly like the sandshark except it has dots on it.. well anyway it was a 2 1/2 foot fish and i grabbed it in the gill area to remove the hook and he swung around and nailed me with a tooth on his spine.. my fore arm is still numb and just looked up and found out they are slightly poisonous.. they have no teeth but a sharp spike!!!! i'm stepping on the tail next time!!!!! Ouch. That must of hurt. Why didn't ya hit him with a big stick? Bigger the stick the better. :) If you just beat him senseless, he can't hurt you. hehehe.
Hope your okay. How poisonous are they?
49 fish is alot. Up here in Canada you can't keep that many in one day. But as well, out here one fish is good enough if you catch a 26lbs salmon.
Cheers,
Bro Chris...

By the way, what do you do with sandsharks? Do you eat them? They don't sound very appetiting.
