Learning About Engine Maintenance/Repair

Any ideas on how to go about learning about marine engine repair/maintenance? I have very little knowledge about how to take care of or repair my engine. I mean, I know what I'm supposed to do but I'm not sure how to go about doing it (if that makes any sense). I could post a hundred questions here on the bulletin board but I'd really love to gain some "hands-on" experience. <br /><br />I have a 2000 5.0L Volvo Penta and I'm in Houston, TX. <br /><br />Thanks for your input.

friend of mine wanted to get experience with computers....he went around a few computer shops and volunteered free labour...got lots of work and experience.<br /><br />Maybe check local marine shops or wreckers...<br /><br />Good luck!<br />
