I need to get some protectant on my seats and would like to buy local but the boat shops here dont really have much selection. However I asked my trusted mechanic if he had any suggestions, he said definitely do not use armourall, but that I could use leather conditioner from autozone or something. Never heard of this, anyone try this before?

Use Aerospace 303 protectant. I know of nothing thats as highly recommended, and it has a ton of applications.

If you have a west marine around you, they will carry it, although it will be a bit cheaper if you buy online.

Alternative - Turtle Wax ICE for Interior. Synthetic, not greasy, smells good, and has UV block. Autoparts or Walmart has it.

I used lemon pledge for years and years and was happy with it. Based on all the hype and recommendations, I tried AS 303 and found it to be horrible. Sticky, non-uniform and blotchy. The last trial was old fashioned Armorall and it turned out fantastic. Been using it now for 5 or 6 years.

The best thing about Armorall is that it shines real good and protects, but its not slippery. That's a particulary good quality on a jetski.

Armorall is great until it isn't. I've seen a Dyno boat stearingwheel completely wrecked by a simple application of Armorall turning the black leather into a white chalky mess never to return to normal. I use Meguiars vinyl cleaner and proectant with a uv inhibitor in it on my Sig boat. I'll say i'm neither impressed or disappointed since I don't know what else the product is supposed to do. I don't let the interior stay dirty long and so a good microfiber cloth with clean water followed by a good coating of the Meguiars does fine. Most of my marine products from waxes to sprays to props I buy off the internet since the Marina is over the top expensive and our Walmart has no marine type chemicals.

That's the stuff.

Also, sunscreen and insecticides are actually harmful to vinyl (from what I've read over the years).

<-----From your local upholsterer....soap and water. Keeping it clean is the best step by far.
