Good day all,
This is quick...
I remember reading a few posts that during winter time some people leave their block and manifolds dry without antifreeze/water mix.
Will this cause rust???
Please share your observations and experience.
Thanks,

"pop" (sound of lid being blown off can of worms)

Let the debates begin!

Seriously Lenny, do a search on this and you will find many posts, believe me, in the short time I've been around this forum, I think this is the most argued subject.

I leave mine dry, I've never seen a rusted out block, and air doesn't freeze.

I've been winterizing that way for All My Life,........

My Mentors winterized that way All Their Lives,......

I've Never,.... Ever seen a Rusted Out Engine Block,...........

With the exception of an occasional motor that had Lived in Saltwater,....
And Then,.... It took Many Years of Saltwater exposure...........

Cast Iron devolops a Rust Patina when exposed to water,....Almost Instantly.......
Once the surface has this patina,... It doesn't really continue Thru the block as fast,.....

Manifolds,+ Risers are a different story,......
With the Constant Heat(up to 1200*),+ Water exposure,... They'll Rot Out Much Quicker........

Air does not freeze, so you are protected.

It seems that manifolds only last so long, no matter how you treat them. Here in fresh water, I have never heard of anyone's block rusting out.

Maybe Bondo will post his thoughts. But I know he and several other "regulars" feel the same way.
*** nevermind, I see he was posting as I was typing :D

No way, it has to rate probably 3rd behind "auto vs. marine" and the #1 has to be the infamous "OIL" threads. ;) :D
