I guess my only question is how to connect them to my 12v. These are the ones I'm looking at buying(the set of 2. If anyone has a better site let me know please. http://www.ledunderbody.com/Blue-LED-Marine-Boat-Lighting-Kits.aspx

Thanks, Tom

Edit: I just realized I posted in the wrong section. I don't know how to delete(or if I can delete), so I guess I'll get moved to the electrical section.

Ayuh,... I supposed ya could bubblegum it like that....

Personally, I'd go with a more permanent install...
Off the fusebox to a switch, 'n on to the lights...

Here is how you wire a single light. You will need to crimp appropriate terminals on the power wires. The positive lead goes to one terminal on the switch. The other terminal on the switch goes to an empty spot on your fuse panel. The ground wire from the light bar goes to ground. That point will be a ground buss incorporated into the fuse panel or a separate ground point at the console. You won't know for sure what you need until you stick your head under the console to see what you have. If you don't have an unused switch -- you need one. You do NOT use alligator clips to make a connection for something permanently installed in a boat. Most switches have push on (spade) terminals and others have screw terminals whch require "ring" terminals. The battery, fuse panel, and circuit breaker should already exist in your boat. All you need is the switch and the wire terminals.

I have 10 2ft LED light bars under my gunwale and 3 under my swim platform. Got them all from Acolyte Industries for like $80 about 4 years ago. Wired in series and though the ACC toggle switch on the helm and then run to the fuse block. Separate ground for each set (platform and gunwale). Work awesome.

You can find LED strips with a quick search of the interweb. These come in a variety of colors and can be cut to length. They run on 12vDC. I have used them on my boat with no problems. The price starts about $6/foot. The strips can be self stick or glued in place.

If they are 12V, you had to wire them in parallel to provide the proper voltage to each set.

You can get some great marine LED stuff at iboats at a very reasonable price. I purchased the LED bow/stern and switch/fuse panel from them. At 1/10th the power consumption of a regular nav lights, I'll bet mega-boaters will be making the change--over, especially the smaller boats w/out a motor driven charging circuit.
